On 8-9-10 January 2025 an international online conference was organised for the third time by the INHWE to discuss topical questions of interdisciplinary, intercontinental co-operation and critical understanding of the latest research and practice in the field of health workforce education, training and development.
During the event, interprofessional collaboration and innovation emerged as major themes for the ongoing digital transformation of healthcare. Medical educators, researchers, and practitioners discussed the importance of collaborative partnerships, interdisciplinary approaches, and knowledge sharing in addressing complex healthcare challenges. Presenters emphasised the role of digital technologies, real-world simulation and data-driven insights in driving innovation and positive outcomes for patients, providers and healthcare systems.
On the second day of the conference, four members of the SimPRENA team presented the initiative in a dedicated session which was digitally attended by +70 registered participants connected from all over the world.
The project was presented by INHWE Director David Smith together with Dr Kristin Brogan and Miss Emer Thompson of MTU, Ireland (project coordinators) and Dr Jaroslav Pekara of VSZ, Czech Republic.
The presentation was divided into two main parts: one concerned the most common mistakes in the use of non-verbal and verbal communication, with examples of immersive, simulated techniques to prevent the risk of verbal/physical aggression, and abuse. The other was about the importance of project work for fostering skills such as cooperation, teamwork, and applying theory in real-world scenarios.
On behalf of the consortium, we would like to express our gratitude to all SimPRENA presenters for their presence and dedication to the dissemination activities, and for contributing to the success of both the project session and online conference as a whole.
